Strange Electrical Gremlins...
Hello Everyone;
I have a 1998 Bonneville SSEI with over 200k miles on it. For the last year I have been battling a very strange electrical issue. I am not sure if this issue is related to weather, but from time to time my car will do one or more of the following:
*Alarm will not engage when I hit the lock button from the keyfob, and doors will not lock either!
*Doors will lock, but the alarm will not engage
*Doors will lock, alarm will not engage, and the interior lights will not turn off for at least 5-10 minutes
*While car is driving, the interior lights will not turn off.
*One time the Alarm just started going off for no reason!
What I have tried so far:
*Replaced the battery in the keyfob and re-programmed all keyfobs
*Recharged the Battery
*I believe the Alternator was replaced within the last year
A resistor was replaced by a mechanic to make the heater/defrost work about a month ago. This issue happens so infrequently and intermittently that I don't ever get a chance to have a mechanic look at it! I think the problem might be heat/weather related. Is my bonneville possed? How can I diagnose/troubleshoot this issue on my own?
Thanks
