Default Digital heater controls.....

Hey guys, just bought a 95 SSEI with 65k miles on it. Really like the car but gotta fix a few things before its offical

My main beef right now is with the heater and i hope you can help.

Right now i cannot get the heater to work. The AC works fine and all the blend doors seem to direct the air to the right section. What I cant get is it to blow heat out. I dunno if the electrionic unit is broke or what but it just wont get warm. Whats funny is it actually blew warm for the first time this morning. I put it on 90 degree blowing on the feet and it actually started blowing warm at idle, YET when i started driving, thats when it went back to cold.
Dunno if it matters but whenever i put it on auto mode, it turns the AC on, same with defrost.

Thanks for the help, these leather seats are cold!

-Chris

A couple things you could check: Coolant System, is it filled to capacity and air free. Locate and check coolant flow through the heater core supply & return hoses. Is the air flow at the heater outlets (floor) adequate? If you select air to come out of the dash board vents (manual select) with temperature control set on maximum heat, do you get hot air from the vents? With the Climate control in Auto, the A/C is enabled in ventilation and defrost modes.

First of all, welcome to the club. Second, where are you located at?

Does the digital read out "flash" when you first start up the car? If it does, that is a sign of a fault in your climate control system, and that will help us, help you.

Could be a stuck thermostat too. May be time to replace.

If this was the case, I would expect the poster to have mentioned that his car was not reaching operating temperature.

Lets ask

Chris, did the car reach operating temps on the temp gauge?

Thanks for all the replies guys!
Let me see if I can answer all the questions...

When turning the car on, it does not flash any random word or error.

When driving, on a cold morning, the temp reaches around 170 and during the day close to 200.

Coolant level seems fine. When hot its a little above the line. May sound dumb but where is the heater core?

As for air flow, it flows pretty good to the floor when set for max heat. Whats funny is right now its blowing warm (not hot) cause its warm outside and im in the garage but it blows warm to the floor and when switched to the dash vents, its not warm like the floor.

As for location, i love in buckeye but work in Avondale.

Thanks alot guys for the help!

Chris, your heater Core is located on the passenger side of your car tucked under the dash.

Not looking for a random word or error, just wanting to know if the display is flashing the temp.

I had a feeling you were in Arizona

I was originally thinking maybe the airmix door was not operating properly, causing a blend of warm and cool air. Often times, if operation of cold or hot air is erratic, the airmix door actuator is at fault.
