If your are thinking about doing this, please read all of the forum and the post by everyone else. We we found a few quirks with this setup. The thought and theory are there, ust not all of the bugs worked out, hopefully today we can find a better way.

This will take a little bit to explain but I think it'* a cool mod.

The fog lamp relay in powered by pin # 86 ground and Pin # 85 for the +12v. By constantly providing a ground to pin #86, you can run fogs on high beam. (Not hard to do at all).

To run the fog lights anytime :

First things first, pull out your map light assembly. Connected to the unit are 5 wires in a group of 3 which consist of (in order) a White, Black And Orange. You will do nothing whit this. The other 2 wires (in order) purple/white and brown are what actually run to the fog light switch. If you unplug the unit the mod is easier to do.

Looking at the plug that runs to the fog switch the brown wire is on the right. Come down about an inch and cut approx 1.5 inches of the wire off. This will be the place for the diode. This must be inserted the proper way. A doide has a grey ring at the base of one of it'* side. That grey ring (the lead that comes out that side) must connect to the fog switch (the brown wire) The brown wire supplies the positive feed to the switch which makes it glow and powers the relay (the one metioned above) on pin #85 thru the purple/white wire. BTW It is good to sloder all wires and connections (my personal preference) It'* not as hrad as it sounds

Its a little blury, but it should get the point across.
Next... On both of the switches for the maplights, there are three wires, (in order) white, gray and black. Shave a little of the plastic to the side of the white wire, take another piece of wire, size does not matter for this ; low current draw and conncet it to the brown wire and diode (remember the side with gray ring).

Done!....Almost! Wrap any exposed pieces of wires w/ electrical/duct tape. Plug everything back in, put the maplight unit back in its place.. Here is the finished product.









Things to keep in mind: When this is done the little light the glows in the fog switch will always be on, this is not to be confused with the light for the switch being on. There are 2 lights in the switch. My light was already blwn so no biggie. The fog lights will run anytime as long as the interior lights are off. I did not find a way around this, but if anyone does feel free to add to this.

my suggestion to you would be to not wire it the way you have but instead of to an acc/on power source. this means that you can't leave the fogs on overnight or anything like that by accident. It will also allow the interior lights to function as normal, and allow fogs to be on whenever the key is in the acc/on position.

I was thinking about that as well. I already found one problem with it with the inetrior lights not wanting to work while the parking lights are on . I see the wires that power the sunroof and that only runs when the ingition is on. I will look into that tommrow. Thanks for the input corvettecrazy

I like the idea...but how about powering at the relay instead of backfeeding it from the switch?

That is something right along the lines of what corvettecrazy was saying; I have a radio in im car which only power up when the key in in the "on" position. Or run a compleately different switch so there are 2 switches to operate the lights like you were saying, I think that'* what your are saying :? . I need more coffee...too early.
