Instructions vary by year, but we have most covered in Techinfo. Link at the top of the page on the menu bar.

1996 Not covered. So anyone got any ideas on where else to look? Or anyone got an inside man at a dealership?

Try the 95 or 97 procedures if we have them. Newer first, then older.

All I know is that it takes a GM mechanic about five minutes to do...and they'll charge, so it'* smart to at least attempt it. Another thing, if any procedures don't work, your keychain may be bad. I ordered one direct from GM and had it programmed only to have it not work, and just be a bad transmitter (meaning another week and yet another trip to the mechanics...but I won't rant ).

Cool, i can finally help somebody. I just did this for my 96 se and it went smoothly. Here'* what you gotta do:
1:insert keys in ignition and leave in the off position
2:locate DLC (data line connector) under driver side dash. use a fused wire to jump pins 4 and 8 (these are on the wider side of the connector)
3:turn ignition on (as fas as you can go without cranking the engine.) the vehicle will cycle the locks.
4:press and hold both lock and unlock buttons together on the first remote. Hold until the car cycles the locks then release buttons.
5:within 60 seconds repeat the previous step for the remaining remotes, even the one you already have.
6:remove the jumper wire and you should be all set.
