Default Dancing gauges

I have a 98 SSEI and occasionally I have dancing gauges also the boost will jump up and down simualtaniously the engine will act as if it is being choked. The latest thing is that the engine will cut in and out when the a/c is on. I am wondering if I have a computer issue? No indicator lights come on when this happens.

What gauges dance? Just the 3 on the right side?

Most likely:

Loose/corroded battery connections. Remove and clean EACH end of every cable to both terminals of your battery at EACH end. Should take you an hour or two.

Corroded ground busses. Under the carpet next to each front door bottom sill is a group of grounds connected to a bus connector. Inspect these for wetness and corrosion.

If neither of these work, use the TECHINFO (link at the top of the page) procedure to remove your cluster and clean the connections.

Odds are very good that one of these is your problem.

Honestly..I'd leave the cluster until after a few other things..

I don't remember ever seeing a 96+ cluster with issues like the 92-95'* ...there'* always a first

Age will do it. We have alot of weak 92-95 fuel pumps now that we didn't have 2 years ago. That'* going to start hitting the 96'* soon.

Anyway, it'* a classic sign of power or ground connections for the gagues. They are very sensitive to that.
