Default End of the line for my battery??

Well tonight as you may or may not know i was installing a new amp and sub..I had my doors and trunk open for around 2 hours, when i went to start my car it went click click rapidly, so i jumped it off my dads truck..The battery was so dead i turned the headlights on and could look straight into them no problem lol...so after i jumped it i shut all the accesories off and let it run for 20 minutes, then i shut it off...continued on my installation, then i wanted to test it out so i turned my key back, and turned the stereo on, no problems..yet...then soon as i applied volume the deck flashed a few times and croaked!, I put the battery on trickle charge for 1 hour, fired the car up and went for a cruise to open up my new system...when i got home, i turned off the Sentinel, and shut the stereo off, and reved it up a bit, then shut the car off, a few mins later i started it back up no problems, let it run for 5 mins with no accesories on or headlights...i just hope she starts tomorrow morning!

Well, lol, when it was ideling with the stereo CRANKED the interior lights were almost fading to absoloute nothing!
Tomorrow morning will tell me if i need to go out and buy a new Optima Red Top!!!
Right now it has an older Interstate battery of unknown age..maybe i will contact the P/O and ask him if it was somthing he ever did durning his ownership of the car.
Only bad thing about them Optimas is the price..other than that it would be worth it.

(oh and I also carry jumpers with me always! incase it goes dead at work I can get my Boss to use his Cavalier to jump it.

If you're gonna spend the money, you may want to look more at putting your money into an alternator to push them toys. You only use the battery to start the car (sort of), but the alternator pushes all the other stuff. If it'* pulling enough juice theough your stereo to dim the lights, you want to spend the big bucks on the alt.

DP has a 160 and a 200 amp. I'm probably gonna get the 200 amp in the spring. Depending upon how much your stereo, amp, etc. pulls, either of these should be fine.

I had a Bug with the 6 volt system in it. If you wanna gut the electrics and change 'em out, go for the miltary 24v system. Them puppies will run anything!!

What'* the temp in Alberta right now? Cold is bad for batteries, but Mos gave you good advice. If either your battery or alternator is weak, change both at the same time. The DP 160 is great. Check my sig

If your battery is doing that in the cold, it'* an indication of impending doom. If you can't afford to replace both the battery and alternator, wrap and insulate your battery for the time being, or park inside when possible.

Batteries and Alt'* should be replaced in pairs whenever possible. An alt can kill a battery, and a battery can stress an alt. DP'* alts are higher amperage, and solve the rear bearing failure problem that plagues our factory alts.
