This is a DC to AC power inverter, and we're talking input current and using the cigarette lighter? I'm wondering how your pulling 60 to 80 amps through what I believe is a 20 amp fused circuit?

My guess with all of this is that the wire guage is too small for the amount of current, and you're losing the voltage because of the resistance of the wire. Running a new circuit, with heavier wire directly to the battery will likely solve your problem.

Yeah...as we used to say...."that'* electronics for you"...when things didn't seem to make sense. It'* quite possible that they used larger wires, or a different wiring scheme in your other vehicles that it gave that little extra that it needed.

Let us know how it turns out!

Yes, it'* likely that we'll all learn something from your experience, so please let us know what you find.

Well from what they said after several load test'* today everything is working like it should.

was told that it might be the way its run and thats a lot of draw on a 12 volt lighter socket im not even going to bother wiring this inverter to the battery im just going to go and pick up a 7500 and mount it.. we did however wire the one i have to the battery at the dealership and all was good but i think it heats up to much so im going bigger lol

I'm confused, forgive my ignorance. Which one is wired to what? What is a 7500? And to ask again what Archon previously asked, is this a DC/AC Inverter?

Yeah, I'm as confused as Mark. From what I think that I do understand, it'* basically what we said...trying to draw too much current through too small of wire. Is the "7500" the "bigger" unit? I assume that will be installed by being wired directly to the battery? Does the bigger unit also have more effective cooling, as a larger unit will draw at least as much current and likely throw out about the same or more heat if it doesn't. Is it a dc to ac inverter, or is is dc to dc?

Is that without the inverter installed? It isn't necessarilly a problem. The better charge the battery has, the lower (down to 13.6 volts nominal battery voltage) the gauge will read. The higher the voltage, the more charge is being put back in the battery.

Any new speakers or other large metal objects that have been added to your trunk space? That can mess up the compass.
