Default window question?

Driver'* window would not go down, I would hear a little click but no go. Popped the door panel and put power to the motor and it goes down, switch the wires it goes up. Okay, so how do I figure out what to replace the swich or the little black box. The switch works the other windows but not driver"* side. It'* not an urgent matter but it may also be causing other electrical problems.

Test it. Buy a Voltmeter. Find where the power stops.

X2... buy a nice multimeter (around 30-50) if you plan on doing most of the work on your car yourself.

Okay, I need to find one with good instructions because I'm not sure how to use one. I've actually got one but it was cheap with no instructions. Thanks.

Okay guys, could figure out the voltmeter so I just replaced the motor/regulator with one that was working properly and same thing, it only goes up!? When I power both directly they go up and when I switch the pwer and ground they reverse. Is it possible my switch is bad? And does they mean I would have to cut the wires to replace it?

That usually means that yes, your door switch is bad. This is a pretty common thing on GM cars. The contacts in the switches go bad. You are going to have to replace the whole switch assembly in the drivers door, the switches are not individually replacable. Oh and i almost forgot: no you don't have to cut the wires to the switch. It just plugs and unplugs.

Did you grab extra switches? I had both front side spares for my car...but everyone needs and I sent the other to a fellow BC'r. Always nice to have a spare on hand.

No, but i go pretty often if anyone needs a part I can find. 92-95 models all the time, 96-99 somewhat rare. So of course plenty of series 1 engine parts, series 2 engine get pulled and sold almost immediately.
