Default 2004 Olds Silhouette battery light

I just bought an 04 Silhoutte, it had 55k and was in pretty good shape. After driving the vehicle for 3 weeks the big red battery light came on. So I took it back to the dealer, long story short, they said the battery was shorted and put a new one in free of charge. The very next day the light came on again so I called them up and they said, well since the light came back on it'* the alternator and the part is gonna be about $500-$600 and they would pay half of that and half the labor. After I gave them a few words of kindness and hung up I called a mechanic I know who really knows his stuff.

OK long story short again, the van has another new battery, a new alternator and a new belt, for about $350. The van ran fine until today (4 days later) the light came on while sitting idle. If I raised the rpm'* the light still didn't turn off...Does anyone have a clue as to what it could be. I'm pretty sure the volt meter reads around 14.5 while on and around 12.6 or 13 while the engine is off. Since we are in Florida we always have the a/c on but even if we turn it off and the radio the light is still on

Sorry so long but can anyone please help us out?????

The cable that goes from the alternator and the battery. Also check the negative battery cable on both ends. Sounds to me like the charge from the alternator is not getting to the battery.
