Default 1996 Keyless entry

OK gent and ladies, my keyless entry/remote start no longer works. It used to, but it has also sat in a garage for almost a year. I have tried this

1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
Use a fused jumper wire in order to jumper the DLC terminal 8 (BLK/WHT) to terminal 4 (BLK).

2. Close all of the doors.

3. Turn the ignition switch ON. The doors will cycle to lock.

4. Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button on one transmitter. After a 30 second delay the doors will lock and unlock.

Important
Do not turn the ignition OFF or the first transmitter will become inoperative.

5. In order to program extra transmitters, repeat step 4.

6. Disconnect the fused jumper wire from the DLC.
and all the variations I have seen posted. When I connect the 4 and 8 pins on the DLC, shut the door and put the ignition to ON, The locks cycle lock/unlock. I tried programming both remotes, and nada.

Am I missing anything?

Thankx Dave

Dave...I'm making an assumption that you have remote start. If so, your remotes are probably not the factory original remotes and are coded to an aftermarket alarm/starter brain and not the GM factory system. Therefore the procedure you are using would not work.

Yeah, Bill is probably on to something. I have 2 remotes for my car. The factory remotes, and the one for the remote starter. Both will work the locks (but in different ways), but only the factory remotes program in the above manner.

Does yours look anything like this??

That'* factory. Anything else, you need to find directions for your starter

with all the tinkering I have been doing under the hood and elsewhere, I haven't come across a alarm/remote start control box nor any odd wiring, so I assumed it was factory. I'll look again

MOS95B - no. my remotes do NOT look like that. Mine are square-ish with 4 buttons that are 2X2 ... like this

LOCK - UNLOCK
TRUCK - START

the top of the remotes does say Code/Alarm on them, but like I previously stated, I haven't noticed a control box nor odd wiring.

Dee...your remotes are aftermarket and that'* why they don't work. The reprogramming you listed is for factory remotes only. Sorry...had a hunch.

there is a bright yellow sticker under the hood, next to the belt route diagram that reads

WARNING this vehicle is equipped with a remote controlled car starter. Before servicing this vehicle, remove the main power fuse (red wire) to the car starter or disconnect the vehicle battery
and after poking around under the hood again, I still can't see anything that isn't stock wiring.

I'm at a loss.

this is the FCC of the back of the remote -- GOH-FOUR

OK after tearing half the underside of the drivers dash apart, I did find a Code Alarm CSM-3 module. who ever did the wiring did a great steth job on it, cuz i had to hunt for it.

I'm about to google for that module to see if I can reprogram it.

where do I find OEM Remotes? ebay?

I like the remote start, but I have until September till I really need it again :p
