Oh also I think its a problem with alot of 1996 GM cars as I heard of someones Lumina APV van did the same thing and there was a 96 V6 Camaro back east that did the same thing.

Problems? holy crap, let me tell you about them. I've already had to put in switches to defeat both the interior lights and the wipers. Sometimes they don't turn off. The driver side door lock doesn't unlock sometimes. This is one of those times, It'* been doing that for about a week. I expect it to clear up soon. In Canada we have day-time running lights, and the headlights come on at dusk. If I let this feature turn on the lights, they will eventually turn off while driving. For the longest time the torque converter would not lock up. All of as sudden during the holidays, after a long drive it started working again. Nice to have that working again, what a boost in gas mileage.
Those are all minor pains. The not starting thing is a worry. Like you, it hasn't happened in a while. I now think humidity, and not temperature may contribute more to the problem.
I also have a 99 SSEi. Not running right now because of a fuel sending unit leak. IT has a ton of problems as well, but also has a lot of miles on it. I'll be selling that in the spring.
good luck
