Lumbar supports
On my 97 ssei the lumbar support controls dont seem to work correctly. The seat controls themselves work fine but when I flip the little switch to the drivers side the passenger side makes a little noise and dosent do anything and the drivers side does nothing at all. Is this a wiring problem? I read there is a little compressor in there some place that needs to be serviced where is it, how is it serviced?

oh ya the compressor is gummed up....i have had this problem and fixed it 2 times now.....what you have to do is Raise the pass seat, and look for the black plastic cylinder that is right in the middle of the seat up front...there is a 1/4 bolt that holds the bracket on...remove that and now you have the compressor in your hands....undo the electrical connection and the airhose that is attached.....pry open the top of the compressor and remove the metal from the plastic...there are little rubber mounts that the metal rests on just make sure you get them back on....after you have it all apart there is the electrical connection and the air, that is a black plastic that needs to come off....once you do that you will have access to the little wheel and the slits that make the air, remove them, be sure not to loose the little slits as they can disappear real easy. you can clean the inside really well and reasemble....it should be good for the rest of its life

SLE, here is what I found when I went under there. There was alittle black plastic box on the left bottom of the seat (near the console) with a black air line going to it and and electrical connection a rectangular box in the middle of the seat with numerous air lines going to it and a elec. conn. and a metal cylinder behind both of those with a sort of speedometer cable like hose going to it this makes the seat back go up and down (reclining position) . I cant seem to find the box you are talking about but when I disconnect the rectangle box with numerous lines and press the button the motor (compressor?)seems to work. Thanks again

So it is the little metal cylinder (with a label on it ) with the two speedometer cable like tubes going to it (they look like air lines but when I pulled them off they had some sort of cable inside) it held on the metal bracket with two 7MM self tapping screws. This also seems to work the seat reclining feature or has power going through it for that.

I hate to keep breaking your chops like this but all I see there is what I described, the two boxes i mentioned in the earlier post and that metal cylinder. Is the compressor on the seat it self or on the floor.
