95 system failure

95 system failure
Hi! New to this forum. I have a 1995 Bonneville but have no book.
Bulb on console was not working, I removed 2 screws on ashtray, removed stick shift handle, lifted the console and started working on the bulb. Bulb could not be fixed because the wires had severed so it needs to be replaced, so I just cut the two wires and taped it making sure it would not touch steel. Closed console. Nothing works now. Systems check, tach, and gauges don't work. Car runs fine. Why is this happening?

You're looking at the cluster when you check your speedometer or other gauges. The GAUGE cluster. You don't want to change that. Nor is it likely to be the problem.

Most likely the problem is a fuse. Under the driverside of the dash is a little cover for most of the fuses. Please remove the cover and look at it fo the fuse.

Problem fixed! It was the 15A fuse 1d IGN(run/crnk) chime clstr. Systems checks and gauges work now, everything on the dash is working.
Thanks for your help and quick replies.
This is my 3rd Bonneville and the only one I had trouble fixing, because I don't have the book. LOL
Regards,
Brian
