Default LED'*

I recently got silverstar headlamps and in the process i saw some led front side marker lights that should have worked but they didn't :? Anyone used them in their bonnies before? If so, which ones are they and where can i get them?

Thanks

They will very likely set off the lamp monitor. They draw less current than an incandescent bulb.

You usually need a 'ballasting' resister to make them work, I bought an apc one and got it to work but didnt like how bright it was. Bring yours to Bonne fest we'll fix em up for you. I'll bring the apc ones I have and you can have them also......too bright for ol dad

You lost me here; I would think the AutoZone units are 12-volts to begin with, not 3, assuming that a ballasting resistor is used to drop the voltage through the LED...?

What _might_ be the problem here is that your standard LED only allows current to flow through it in one direction; i.e. it has a positive and a negative lead, and reverse voltage won't light it up. The blinking front side markers on the Bonneville run voltage through in either direction, depending on whether the parking-light circuit or turn-signal circuit is lighting it. (When both circuits are hot at the same time, the marker light goes out.)

If the AutoZone LED didn't seem to work in the front side marker socket, I'd want to know if you tried _both_ turn signals and parking lights, to see if either one could light it up. My guess is that one might work, but not the other.

P.*. As for the DIC warning, I think it would give up complaining after about 50 driving sessions and re-learn the new current flow characteristics with the LEDs in place.
