If the lock contacts on the driver'* door are bad, neither front door will be able to lock in that manner. The driver'* switches are the master switches for each window/door.

You found a relay under the carpeting? Shouldn't be one there. IIRC, the relay for the locks should be at the base of the passenger side A-pillar. Not under the carpet.

I just went through this on my 92. That relay is clipped to the bottom of the fuse block. Passenger side, remove the hush panel. There are six wires in the harness that clips to the relay.
I got a "new" one from the junkyard for free. The guys just gave it to me.
