ok. this is how it starts.
first my instrument cluster lights all go out execpt the traction control light and the fasten seatbelt light, then the headlights and fog lights go out as well as the high beams, and the dic lights., then the car makes a ding ding ding sound like it does when you turn the car off and forget your keys then it feels like its going to die but it never does.
and when this happens and all the lights go out then also the traction control wont let me turn it on or off either.? can someone please help me as i just bought the car a week ago and the old owner dont rember anything like this ever happening,, plus under he hood looks so clean like a brand new car that i would eat off of it. it was fully garaged kept and shows it visibly..
please help as i can not drive the car in the night to work untill i fix the problem.. so i will be taking my 88 with the tcc problem and hope it does,nt stall

Sounds like you'd better check the battery cables first. Remove the bolt & boot so you can remove any corrosion between the cables. Apply some dielectric grease to help prevent future corrosion.

After that, use Techinfo to help you go after the ground busses on each side of the front door sills. All the grounds go there.

o.k i took the boots of the batt cables and found corrision so thick it was like they were dipped in pottery clay. i used my dremil to remove the thick layer then 60 grit sand paper to remove the rest back down to solid copper. i cleaned it up and put dilectic grease on it and when i started the car the lights still DON"T work? does any body have any kind of why they still might not work.. not even the traction control works.. but im so confused because everything worked fine when i got the car a week ago...?

If it fixed everything but the headlight problem, your headlight switfch is most likely fried. Boosty will chime in with the info on it, as it was quite common on the '95 models.

I would have answered previously...but I don't know which car you are talking about. When you have more than one car and don't specifiy..it leaves a lot of things in the air.

If it'* the 95 which I'm putting money on... .. pull the switch and look for a melted switch and connector. If it'* the other.. I'd head for the ground buss.

In the case of the 95..search on me and Melted or headlight switch and you'll find a lot of information about 95'*. You want to upgrade to a 96+ headlight swtich (which is all you can buy retail) and you'll need a new trim **** for the twilight sentinel as it'* different between 95 and the rest. Most also need to replace the connector and a length of wire as well. In that case..I suggest getting a swtich and wiring from a junkyard for the best price.

In the meantime, go after the ground busses like I mentioned above. You will find more corrosion there.

its the 95 se.. im sorry as im used to the 88 and i only had the 95 for a week..

but back on topic... i cleaned all corriosion and lights,fog light nor instrument cluster work.. all are still off and wont turn on.. i will go tommorrow morning to the junk yard to get a 96 model switch... hopefully i find one and it fixes my problem.. as getting to and cleaning the ground busses under the seats is too long to do now but i will do it next weekend and if i rember ill take pics and post some..

Get the wiring harness with that 96 switch also. Yours may be melted. Cut at least 3 or 4 inches back from the plug, then splice in.

The ground busses aren't under the seats. They're just under the carpet inside the door sills. They take 2 minutes to access.

how do i remove the door sills as i do not see any screws.? is it a clip on.. thanks
