You talking about the old "Flash" codes???? If so that feature was removed after 93. You have to use a Scanner on a 96 to retrieve codes.

Here'* what GM Service Info says:
Step 1
Was the Powertrain On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check performed?
--
Go to Step 2
Go to the A Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check

Step 2
Are any PCM DTC(*) stored?
--
Diagnose DTC(*) first. Go to Powertrain Control Module Diagnosis (Powertrain DTCs)

I need any & all DTC codes first to help you further.

You guys are talking about two totally different things.

The original post is asking for ATC codes. Auto temp control.

Deathrat'* reply was for PCM fault codes, not ATC, but the answer is the same. 93 was the last year ECC (ATC) codes could be obtained through diagnostics built in.

Actually Will, The GM SI database says to check it THIS way first. This way you eliminate the obvious!
