Default reverse tail light chiming on and off

I mad a road trip from atlant to new jersey about 864 miles.
The last 200 miles my tail light would chime at me. go away for 3 seconds and chime again all in heavy rotation. this is the most aggravating thing ever.
I replaced my reverse lamps and realized the didn't work. The oddest thing was that i was able to get the light on for about 20 seconds after I played with the ele line but it went back out and never came back on when the car is in reverse. brand new bulbs the fuses are good so I've been stumped as how to get my back up lights to come on.
I do have a code for park neutral switch and I do realize the reverse lamps do run to the PN switch. Could this be the problem? Ive heard about a PN sweitch readjustment but It my manual its pretty vague. Any help?

Reverse lights aren't on the Taillamp circuit. If your lamp monitor (DIC) states "Tail Lamp", you need to look at the lamps that are on with parking lights or headlights on only. Not reverse, brake, or turn.

In addition, your two license plate lamps are also on this circuit. All the taillamps in the 4 seperate light assemblies and the license lights.

The time this happened to me, a license bulb had melted and intermittently shorting.

You have 12 bulbs that could do this and it only takes one of the little *&%^&'*. (AT least on the 97'*)

3 x 2 for the outside lights =6
4 center tail bar =4
2 for the license plate =2 --> 12
