Default TCS/ABS Issues after carwash

So, I thought I was just gonna take my car in for a quick automatic wash. Half way through we noticed that the sunroof was leaking, in the moving around trying top get it closed the trunk open on the key fob got pressed against the dash and opened the trunk. Water was sprayed in and soaked the floor carpet and got over the sensors by the speakers in the trunk. We tried to dry stuff off the best we could but when we were leaving the TCS OFF and ABS light came on, as well as the service stability light in the message center (the service stability had come on before but the TCS and ABS always worked fine)

What the heck happened to my car??

Please put your year and trim model in your signature space provided in your user control panel. I am guessing that your car is new enough to have Wheel Speed Sensors (located behind the tire) These can get wet and cause headaches. If so, unplug each smear a little vaseline on each end and snap connection back together tightly.

I would saw more then likely you just got soem sensors wet, and did not damage anything. I've had mine shut down after hitting some slushy snow, only to work again the next day after things dried off.

You may want to check your wheel spin sensors. Pull the plug and clean any corrosion.

Would Dielectric grease be better? Should I spray the terminals down with electric contact cleaner first?

Yes, if you have contact cleaner then use it. Dielectric grease is basically the same thing. If you have that, then use it. Those sensors can be a little funny at times. I've had mine shut down with heavy braking and over heating the brakes.

Okay. Thank you very much for the help! I was hoping that it was something relatively simple/cheap to fix like this....
