Default GM designed our fans to always be on? (Auto climate control)

Not sure about 92-94, on 95+ if the auto climate control is off, when I press auto the a/c will always light in case it'* needed.

In doing this did GM actually design the system so that the average person who didn't turn the A/C off would always have the fans running on high?

Seems that way to me. I'm looking for others thoughts as I never really put that together before.

High speed fan turns on for 2 minutes atleast when the AC kicks on. I'm sure it comes on as necessary after that.

Actually I looked it up in the book tonight for another post. Kicks on w/ac and only goes off over 40-65 mph depending on engine temps.

My 93 runs high speed whenever the AC is on. The 95 runs only when in Auto.

So then we are all seeing the same things. As long as you are in auto (expected by GM) then your fans should be on.

Its interesting. I'd think that they would have just controlled them on with threshold speeds and temps differently to keep the cars from ever being allowed to get to 215 before fans kick on.
