K.. this is cut and paste from my othe post so... any input??

The instrument cluster is dead.. nothing works but the tachometer ( no fuel..*/C.. oil.. drivers info.. speedo.. oil gauge etc. ) but the the HUD shows the speedo fine. I think it might be a connection or corroded wire, but not sure till I tear the dash apart.. but that would be a PITA.. any other ideas ?? My traction control is off along with ABS ( I think that'* contributed from the broken wire that goes to the rear hub for the ABS sensing unit/speed sensor ), I will solder it back up and see if that corrects that later on. My stock HU was stolen and I think I read somewhere in here that it may lead to my climate control problem.. it reads -.-.- and won't turn on or anything.. ( tell me this is .. cause it'* gettin really expensive to get all this fix ), and if so I'm planning on gettin an aftermarket HU, what do I need to worry about bypassing DIM and such? The touring ride and performance light are both on now and I think that may mean an error with the suspensions.

I would bet you climate control and dash are on the same power source, but I would need a wiring diagram of your car to find the correct fuse or wire.

Thanx fuddy.. I don't have a service manual for it either.. *cough *cough Muffin.. whose suppose to get me that for me last birthday.. *cough *cough.. which is also coming up soon. HUD'* commonly corrode, so check that first. Sitting around like yours has (we got the full story from Jim sat night) will do that easy.

The HUD is fine.. it'* the analog gauges not working..
Fuddy.. I have a service manual for 95.. would that help since it'* also OBDII for N/A ( minus Boost gauge? )

I would generally say Yes, that'll be better than nothing, since I think you need to disassemble the gauge cluster and look for corroded connections, as opposed to actually having to diagnose something involving the OBD system.

When I say "corroded" I don't mean anything majorly rusty, but a little oxidation on the connector pins can be enough to screw things up.

If somebody ripped out your stereo at some point it'* certainly possible that the damage could have either dislodged some connectors in back or blown some fuses.

so other then possible corroded wires ( which means whole dash dis assembly ) what else could cause this?? ( Just throw some ideas out ). I thought the fuse for the whole instrument cluster is a single fuse and not linked to the auto climate??

EDIT: I will definitely try that strut reading code link you sent.. does the car have to be level to perform the test though?? The front of my car is up on the stand at the moment.

I'm not sure the 95 manual will be completely accurate, but you can try it. The 95 is actually OBD-1.

If codes are stored in the CCR, you should be able to retrieve them. I'm not sure if you can do it with the car in the air. I don't see why not, although it'* possible you may get false readings from the sensors in the struts.

Thats true.. I remember the OBD II interface.. and ASSUMED again.. thanx.. guess it'* easier to search and destroy for a 97 manual and or shoot in the dark and hope it'* just the connector and test them all..

K.. the cluster, driver info and climate control is working now.. there was a blown fuse.. I think caused by the heater motor as it was seized. Changed fuse, and everything there is working.. pulled the heater motor out a bit.. gave it a few spins.. jumped it straight to 12V for a minute.. stuck connector back into it.. it works.. woo hoo...
