Default '90 SSE Climate Control Display

Hi

Climate Control Display has disappeared. Can't operate heat/air or fan settings.

Is this a common issue for these cars? Is it a difficult deal to fix or is it maybe a short easily gotten at...

Really need heat now and air in the summer...

Would appreciate any thoughts, advice, comments, similar experiences etc...

In short - Help!

If nothiing else, I'll probably take it to a Pontiac dealer..

Thanks very much -

Tom

No, it'* not common.

If your display is out, I suggest you search Ebay or a local wrecker for a new ECC unit.

Default dis

Check your fuses first then the connector on the back of it. Very easy to take out with 4 screws.

Default ECC

Hey -

thanks for your replies

Checked fuses - all ok - so you're saying that I should remove screws for the fuse box and make sure all connections to the back of the box are ok?

Also, DIC & Compass lights flicker on & off from time to time

Could it be something in the other, smaller fuse box not located to the left of the streeing column?

Thanks again -

Tom

Default Still looking for help

Well -

Looks like a mystery - as I mentioned - the DIC and compass flicker and if it'* cold out, the DIC will slowly fade into view - also still no display for ECC - the fan is still blowing warm air as it'* still on the setting I had it at when the display and controls disappeared..

All fuses and relays are good under the dash etc..

Would appreciate any ideas at all

I am going to see if - with my limited talent - I can get the fuse holder loose and make sure everything connected to it is secure...

Thanks!

3 things:

Remove your cluster and clean/reseat the contacts on the back. There'* an article that will relate (with minor differences for your year) in Techinfo.

Do the Ground Bus cleaning in Techinfo.

Try a different ECC unit as I suggested above.
