Default Brake light warning on the DIC

The DIC is indicating that I have a brake light out. Specifically, the rear center window one. However, I checked it and it lights up. Furthermore, the other four (two in each tail) work just fine. That includes running lamps and brake.

Are there brake lights in the trunk lenses? If not, all are working. Thoughts?

And, would a burnt out bulb cause the chime to ding three times after the car is started?

Already did. The DIC was indicating I had a running light out too. It was the passenger side one. That warning is now off on the DIC.

Now I'm just trying to get the brake light one solved....

did you take the bubs out individually yet? Sometimes there are some very small lights that you would not notice...

Pull the brake light bulb out of the center. Clean all contact or replace the bulb entirely. You are getting an intermittent connection. All it takes is a millisecond and the system picks up on it. Then it takes a successful on and off of the light after you have turned off the car and restarted before it clears.

I did take the bulb out and it looked fine. So did the contacts. I'll try replacing that entire bulb tonight.

There are 3 types of bulbs that will FIT in that high center brake light. 2 will trip the Lamp Monitor. One will not. Go by the book on the part. Posted in Techinfo if you need it.

BRAKE light warnings on the DIC (lamp monitor) can only be the 3 brake lamps. Tail lamp circuit also includes the small parking lamps, one filament in each brake side, and the two license plate lights.

Enjoy the black goo. Methanol takes it off the fingers best.

BTW...light coating of dielectric on the contacts...slip it in and out 3-5 times to clean up the socket.
