Check Guages Low Oil Pressure Light
I noticed on the car I am about to buy the check guages light is on for the low oil pressure. I also noticed the actual guage does not go up or down even when the car is off. It just doesnt move. Is this a major problem, and can it be fixed easily. What would cause this to do this.. I also cannot read the drivers information center cause the oil pressue light keeps chiming and no way to get into the info like avg fuel etc...so you gurus help me out, am I buying into a lemon.

sounds like your sensor went bad, most of the time the gauge goes all the way pegged to 120 so a check gauges light never comes on

It is a 2001 Bonneville SSEi...no sunroof. The local auto mechanic says it is a dealer part and he cant order it...he says the whole instrusment cluster has to be removed to fix it.,..I think that is BS.
What do you think.

Yes, under the car right by the oil filter. no need for a lift, just need a jack and a jack stand and your set. Unplug the sensor and use a wrench to remove the sensor, turn in new sensor and plug back in.
