Default Heater Question

So since its been freezing in Michigan i have been having to use the heat a lot and I have a problem with my heater. When I first turn the heat on I hear a whining noise and nothing comes out of the vents or a little heat comes out. It doesn't always do this but usually it does and when it happens it will go on for like 15 20 seconds of an annoying whining or whistling and then it will stop and the heat will come on fully. Sometimes though it wont stop and i have to turn the heat off and try again and that will usually work but it sometimes takes a few times turning it off and turning it back on.

has it done it before without the heater if so it could be your blower getting ready to give out or one of the vacuum lines could have a small leak.

Can you tell where the sound is coming from? Is it the blower motor? Is it coming from under the dash near the glove box?

The sound is coming from the vent right next to the climate controls on the left before the steering wheel and i also noticed it coming from the vent underneath the steering wheel.

There'* a control flap in that area. You will need to go under there and look. Then move the controls to see if it'* moving.

When your down there looking for that flap also look at all the vacuum connections to. Almost sounds as if one is just not fully connected well and is screaming at you until it finally makes enough vacuum to engage whatever device it controls. Most likely a blend door for heat.....
