ignition lock change now lighting problems
Hello,
I just had the ignition lock changed on my 95 SSE because the old one was sticking quite badly most of the time... now however the door chime constantly goes off even when the key is not in the ignition, the fog lights do not work anymore, and when I turn on the headlights the interior dash lights do not come on at all. The HUD, the compass, and the DIC all stay on at full brightness even when the headlights are turned on, but like I said the lights that light up the needles on the gages and light up the numbers on the speedometer do not light up anymore...
The guy who took apart my steering column and changed the ignition lock for me thinks it'* a fuse but the fuse for the driving lights looks fine and everything worked nicely when I dropped the car off and now the lights and the door chime are all a mess...
I'm taking it back Friday as that is the earliest I can get back to him but he didn't seem to know what happened and again thinks it'* just a fuse so any ideas of where to look would be most helpful to both him and I as I'm very frustrated now... how can a steering column lock change effect so many other things?
I got a fuse tester and tested all the fuses and they all test fine... so now I'm at a loss as to what happened to my car.
any help that anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated,
thanks

That is pretty darn odd. Most of those items are unrelated and don't even enter into the column.
Maybe...I could see things acting funny if he lowered the column and somehow a wire got pinched putting it back up. Or maybe he unhooked something and forgot to rehook it.

Thank you for your reply, I really appreciate getting a reply even if someone isn't quite sure what it could be, it'* nice to have someone take the time to reply.
It turned out to be a missing fuse! the guy apparently took out two fuses and forgot to put one back in; so even though I bought a fuse tester and tested all the fuses in the box and they all tested good it still didn't help me because I didn't even think that it could be something as simple as looking for a missing fuse
anyway thanks again for your response,
sincerely,
Antonio
