power drops
I have a small 400 watt power supply that i use the charge my laptop while on the road. Today was the first time i used it in the bonne since i bought it, I mainly use it in my Impala and my truck. When it is in either the Impala or the truck it reads a steady 14.0 volts. When i plug it into the bonne it sometimes reads as low as 11.5 with a power draw of 60 and shuts down when it hits 80 and never does it read more then 12.7. i haven't hooked it directly to the battery but im going to tomorrow morning, i did however pick up a second one and tried it same thing plug them both into the imp everythings golden.
im lost i tried every 12 volt socket in the car there all the same. has anyone else seen this??
thanks in advance

That is a significant load on the electrical system. Something doesn't add up, with voltage dropping to 11.7 volts, current should be at 34 amps. Alternator should be boosting voltage up at this point. (unless total load + accessories is too much for the alternator that you have as equipment) As voltage is increased, current should decrease proportionately. Once you make a direct battery connection for power, I'd be curious to see the figures then.

is this only happening at idle or while driving.
the reason i ask is that some alternators cut out power at idle cuz the rpms are so low they cant spin fast enough to give more power.
i know on my sse with the 105amp it would drop power at idle in drive but as soon as it revved a little it was fine.
i switched to a 140 amp and all was well after that.

I have never caught the gauge since every time it happens im to busy shutting down the inverter. as to not cause any damage to anything.
but i have noticed the gauge dancing going from rev to drive more then 2 volts
