99 SLE keyfob button issue & antenna question
The buttons on the keyfob for my 99 SLE work just fine at any range, but they have to be pressed in quite a bit. Is everyone'* keyfob like this? I have another one for a Ford, and its buttons work just fine from even further away. Is there a button replacement procedure?
Also, can I add on not only a little bit of wire to the internal antenna, but also a metal plate on the outside to which the wire goes? I'm not sure about this antenna, but usually there should be nothing much to stop me except for the inconvenience of a metal plate stuck to a keyfob.

The thin metal parts on the circuit board are worn... and they are not coming back up all the way.. The older remotes are the same way.. The Oldest GM Remotes were the best..

Posts like a Ricer Type-R
A plate will only serve as an antenna based on it'* longest dimension, not it'* surface area.
Are the buttons actual microswitches, or does the carbon on the back side of the button short out a grid? This is important in order to determine if you can 'fix' the depth of the press.

I haven't opened the remote yet to see what'* up, but I'll probably do that on Wednesday. If it really is repairable, what'* the average repair cost?

There are no micro switches on the board..
Its just a contact of sorts, That where the thin metal tabs come in( shaped like a parabola <--- spelling?)
Over time this metal parabola shaped metal tab wears out... This functions as the contact and return...
There really olds remotes were not built this way...
Come to think of it..... Crack that remote open.... I want to see the inside...

Before I open this, I have to ask if it'* going to explode and require time to be put together, or can it be just as easy to put back together after the picture taking business?
