I'm having problems with my locks and interior lights & trunk light. EVERYTHING else works - seats, trunk release (key fob and interior button) windows, mirrors, lights on instrument panel and floor shifter and the LEDs over the door controls. I checked all the fuses in the driver and passenger foot well and all look good. I payed special attention to 8B (interior lighting) and 6C (interior lamps and parking lamps - but parking lamps already work). On the passenger side I specifically checked fuse #1 (door locks) and it looks fine as well.

I first noticed my problem yesterday when I turned off my fog & parking lights when I got home. (I disabled my DRLs and like to run fog/parking lamps when it'* cloudy out) Is there any way the headlight switch could be related to the door locks and interior lights - just a random thought. I don't remember if I put it in Park and then hit the fog lights or, vice versa, but I turned off my car and found myself "locked in" :?

If it'* not a fuse or relay or something, where do I begin to look for the problem in the circuit??

Body Control Module? Need a GH with the 97 FSM to look up info.

Let'* back up a minute and walk through what is happening.

What problems are you speciifcally having on:

1. The door locks. and when do the door locks become inoperative?
2. Interior lights
3. Trunk light

I have the 97 FSM'* with me and can check some things out, but I need some better understanding of what is happening (or not happening) with each component.

The door locks are completely dead at ALL times - passenger side door switch too.
Interior lights are off at ALL times as well - ie map lights, footwell lighting, lights over rear doors.
Trunk light is also out all the time, but like i said i can still "pop" the trunk with the key fob and the button on the driver'* door.

Keep in mind also that everything else IS working - ie power seats, windows, mirrors and everything on the console and dash.

Do the doors lock/unlock using the key fob?

Do you have "chimes"? (Key in ignition, lights left on, seatbelt not faastened, etc.)

The key fob does work, but ONLY for the trunk release.
I also just checked my car and the chimes DON'T work regardless if the key is in the ignition - ie there'* no "lights on" chime with key out of ignition and the door open, or "fasten seatbelts" chime with the key in the ignition. I can't believe I didn't notice that silence before!

Aha!!!!!!!!!! The NO chimes MAY have completed the missing link. ALL of the symptoms you have mentioned, plus no chimes, points right to the Body Control Module or (MALL)

I will do some further reading to see what "tests" we can run.

First, check fuse "1D" CHIME FUSE (a 15 amp fuse in the drivers side fuse panel)

I'll double check that fuse - they all looked good before but you never know. I'm curious to hear more. THANKS!!

Just checked the 1D 15amp "chime" fuse and looks good. I even switched it with the 15 amp spare in 2B and no luck:(

Not sure if it matters, but I cleaned up my battery terminals about a week before the problem occured, but they're all shiny and tight.

You probably already know it'* related, but add the glovebox light to the not working list too.
