Default Keyless Entry

Hey everyone,
Im new too the forums. I just bought a 1999 Bonneville SSEI.
My question is, my keyless entry doesnt work. I changed the battery as well as following the steps on the tech info page listed below:
"1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
Use a fused jumper wire in order to jumper the DLC terminal 8 (BLK/WHT) to terminal 4 (BLK).

2. Close all of the doors.

3. Turn the ignition switch ON. The doors will cycle to lock.

4. Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button on one transmitter. After a 30 second delay the doors will lock and unlock.

Important
Do not turn the ignition OFF or the first transmitter will become inoperative.

5. In order to program extra transmitters, repeat step 4.

6. Disconnect the fused jumper wire from the DLC."

I did that, instead of using a 3 amp fused wire, because I dont even know what that is, I used a paper clip cuz I was told it was the same idea. Would this be why it didnt work? If so, where can I get a 3 amp fused wire? And is there anything I could have done wrong?

No, it makes no difference whether it'* 3 amp fused wire or anything else, as long as the jumper between twerminals 8 & 4 electrically does the job. I think what they mean is wire with a minimum ampacity of 3 amps & then fused for ckt protection. I would use a copper wire jumper, tin the ends with solder & try the procedure again. Oh yeah, Welcome to BC.

Hi.

With all this talk about remote key fobs, it'* made me think.... Ow, my head hurts!

Okay, a bit more seriously. I've lost both my remote keyfobs. I'd like to have them again. They were kinda handy, as I recall. What are the chances any of you have extras you wouldn't mind losing?

Thanks.
