Default Fuse Problem Solved on 94 SSEi

Alright so this past sunday i spent about 4 hours working on and tryin to fix my tail lamps blowing a fuse. I have talked several times to members about this problem so figured i would update. I did not fix the problem on sunday so on monday i dropped the Bonney off with my chevy service department. Now it sat until today with no one touching it. And in that time it didnt rain so the car got nice and dry and warm. So guys take it into service and the freakin fuse wont blow.

Here is my possible solution to this problem. The drivers side rear tail light assembly was cracked and i spent about 45 minutes cleaning/dryin out the inside. What i am thinking is that when it rains then it gets moisture in it. It is causing a short. Since the tail lamp was completely dry with no evident moisture at all in it it wouldnt blow. As of right now my lights have not blown a fuse in about 2 and half hours lets see how it works and guess time to replace that tail light assembly

Sounds plausible to me. How do the tail light sockets look, any evidence of corrosion from moisture?

I think that is why it took a few days for it to stop doing it cause there was some grease on the connections so none of them were corroded. I reapplied grease and this morning the lens was really foggy when i went to work and i turned on turn signal and it blew the fuse so im gonna stop and by some silicone tonight pull the whole assembly off the car dry it out and seal the living hell out of it. At least that will temp fix it until i can find a nice set of used ones.

Use the RTV to re-seal the foam seal pad to the light itself, then put a small bead in the groove created by the frame of the car where it seats.

It might be a good idea to drill a couple small drain holes underneath where they can drain to the OUTSIDE. I've done this in the past on my SLE and a couple other cars. I will on the SSEi if it ever develops this problem.

Tomorrow should be a fun day. Fixing light fixing belt problem and putting headliner back in the car. Any particular brand of adhesive you would recommend.

I'd use the RTV or similar as WillWren suggested on the tail light.

Headliner I'd use the 3M.

They've both been well tested by forum members.
