Ummm...

If you go from Low to Intermittent while the wipers are in mid-sweep, what do they do? Do they stop dead wherever they are on the glass? Do they park? I'm thinking you're more likely to have a problem with the innards of the wiper motor'* Intermittent circuit than with the control lever or anything else.

Hmmm... Sounds like the intermittent circuit isn't delivering any power to the motor at all.

You might want to try removing the motor assembly and opening it all up for a look-see here, especially for fried circuit boards or dirty contacts. I had to do the same thing on the wiper motor of our '96 Trans Sport, where they would simply quit whenever they felt like it. Cleaning the various wiping contacts inside the case of the motor and its little transmission did the trick.
