Default Help ** Automatic headlights stuck on....

My headlights on my 96 SE just stuck on even in bright sunshine.
I can tell by the dash lights being dim on the radio.
I get out and all the lights are on front and rear, even during the day.
What should I check first? Is there a controller? or should I check the dash sensor.
Any Ideas??? Help please.

I'd check the dash sensor first...

All that dial does is tell the lights how long to stay on after the car is shut off.

what time of day is this happening? The reason I ask is because my 94 does the same thing like it is on some type of timer of some sort. Like I will be driving at 8 am and bright sunshine and then they will go off all of a sudden and then later at like 7 pm they will come on for no reason (it will still be sunny out)

I was driving home from St. Cloud this evening and was passing a black 96-99 SSEi with the chrome torquestars (we gave each other the thumbs up) and I noticed their lights weren't on but mine had been on for 20+ minutes. It was still really light out too -like 6:45PM. I checked the dash sensor, but nothing wrong there.
I'm wondering if your dash sensor fell out -I took the sensor from the dash panel in my 1994 and stuck it inside the dash for DRL'* -Anytime the car is on the lights are on.

That just doesn't make sense. Why would you want the headlights on after you turn the car off? That'* almost as bad as the way my interior lights don't turn off right away...

You should be able to turn the twilight sentinel completely off and use the manual headlamp control on the turn sig lever, no? The ambient light sensor on dash may very well be faulted, there are control relays involved here also, you may have a failed relay welded shut, lazy whatever. It could be any number of different things.

Default lights on

It happened around 6:30 PM while going to Lowes.
On the way home same thing, lights on all the way in sunshine.
It has been vey humid aroun 80% the last couple of days due to tropical moisture
coming up to the NE from the hurricane.
I wonder if its a stuck relay? Anyone know where to find it?
Is the dash photo cell the center one? How does the trim panel come out?
Should I pry it? Thanks
