Default blower motor control

ok so i have noticed weird operation of my blower motor. Here is whats going on.... If i leave the ecc on 90* the blower motor will start even before the car is warm blowing cold air. If i leave it on auto at about 74* the blower motor will turn on when it is supposed after the car is warm when i first start it in the morning but if i park somewhere for a little while the blower will not turn back on and it usually wont for 15-20 minutes and there doesnt seem to be anything that triggers it to turn back on. I had read that the blower control module could be bad from another thread that i saw a couple of days ago, so i went and pulled one from out local u pull r parts from a 93 ssei. My question is will it work in mine. Essentially it should be same system but since the car i pulled it from had a different ecc im wondering if it would work but my thinking is it should since all it does is control the fan operation but then again the plugs may be different. I got it for $4 so i think im gonna try swapping them but if anyone knows it wont work for sure i dont want to bother with even thought it really isnt that hard.

The reason the blower comes on when the car is still cold when you have it set on 90* is because the 90* setting disables the automatic control and calls for full heat. Same thing with 60*, which calls for full cooling.

I dunno about the 93-95 compatability, but i'd say if the plugs match, give it a try. While you have the BCM out, take a look inside the heater box, and if it'* dirty, clean it out with brake parts cleaner and water. There'* a techinfo article about this.

oh i had never noticed that commanding full hot or cold overrode it. i usually set it at 74* and leave it. The reason i had suspected this was because in the last thread somebody posted it was draining their battery and two times this week i have went to my car and had a completely dead battery. I changed it out and the plugs and everything were the same. I havent really noticed a difference though. I guess we will find out.
