10000K is a deeper blue and depending on the cop you can also get a ticket for having too much blue. 8000K will have more usable light.

Running 6000K 55W from DDM. Took 3 weeks for them to ship it out, and another few days for it to get here. They have stocking problems due to customs delays in their shipments, so expect it to not get to your door for a while.

Does a 55W HID bulb produce more heat than, say, the 55W Halogen bulb that'* in your headlight right now? Considering they're the same wattage and the only difference is the gas inside the bulb, I'm not quite sure there'* any danger at all.

Haven't had any problems with the housings overheating yet, and its been a month. I'm still doing some research to find out if HID'* run at all hotter, and so far I can't find anything to support that claim. Quite the contrary, I have claims that HID'* due to the lack of filament that the Halogen bulbs have and the different method for producing light, actually run cooler than Halogens.

When I get home, I'm tempted to intall one Halogen and leave one HID in, and check the temperature at the lense after 5 minutes of running.

Edit...did a lot more reading. Everyone I've noticed is reporting that HID'* run a lot cooler than Halogens, even at the same wattage. I'll see if I can confirm this tonight.

So I guess 55W would be fine then. I've never taken the temperature of any type of bulb so I wasn't sure and didn't want raptor to be the first to find out if they would cause a problem.

Well, hold off on that order for a bit. I'll go home and compare the temperatures of my lenses since I have the DDM 55W HID'* on my Regal. I'll let you all know what I find out.

Its not the heat melting the housings I would worry about, its that a normal reflector housing is not made for HIDs, 55 watt will be too bright and EXTREMELY blinding to other drivers, 35 watt are plenty bright for a reflector housing

go with the 35 watt so you don't blind other drivers or get a ticket for your lights being too bright
