Cloudy Headlights
Any help on cleaning or somehow fixing the cloudiness that you get over time on the headlight lenses?
I've got a 2001 SSEi and everytime I wash and polish it, the headlights just look that much worse.
I've seen products on e-bay, but I'd like to hear from some of you guys that might have some expereince of something that actually works.
I've heard you can start with wet sandpaper about a 100 grit and gradually work your way down to finer grits of wet sandpaper until you've got them cleared up, but I don't want to damage and scratch them all up.

omg no no no no NO!
do this instead... go to your local gm dealership, go to parts, ask for Part# 875428-1 Headlamp Restoration Kit... it will cost you 28.90 +tax, its a 3 step process and we tried it to test it on our secretaries car... it works

Thanks for the instant response!!
I'll sure give that a try. My wife'* Caravan needs the same thing. I'll try hers first.
Two reasons for that:
1. If it doesn't work, her headlights are so bad off, they couldn't possibly get any worse. I'll be able to tell if this stuff is good enough to use on my "real true love"!
2. If it does work I will get all of the expected "rewards" of working on her car first!!
See guys, you can actually learn a little somthing from 23 years of marriage! Take a little advice from one of us veteran husbands!

Okey Dokey Okie Hokie,
I would never suggest not getting married!
Marriage is great. It is like a car though - it'* requires a lot of investment and constant maintenance! And similar to my SSEi, I seem to spend a lot more time and money working on it than enjoying it. Sure it'* a great daily driver, but the fun is the rare occasion when I can "play with it" a little bit. You can interpret that analogy any way you want to! As far as the initial investment in "my true love", my wife bought it for me with some recent inheritance money.
Again, I'm not suggesting that you don't get married. But, be sure you marry the right one......the first time!

Headlights are easier than marriages. It'* a multistep process that needs to be repeated over and over. And the process never quits changing on you. But I'm getting it all figured out. Like one of my favorite Canadian comedians Red Green says, "I'm a man, I can change,......if I have too.
Thanks for the part number and "testing' tl. I'm in the middle of rebuilding my truck and ya the headlights are clouded. I was just going to order new. I'lll give that a try first.
Would be nice to get some before/after shots and put the write-up in Tech Info

Is it that marriage or the headlight clean-up that is a multi-step process that has to be repeated over and over and never changes?
I hope you're talking about the marriage, because if the headlights are that complicated - I'll get rid of the car!!
I love this site!!!

Naw , it'* the marriage. LOL If you get the headlight polished out clear, It should take an equal amount of time to cloud again. Unfortunately with wives, it hours, not years............
