Default Got my HID kit today but a little confused!

I got the 35w 6000k Raptor kit from DDMTuning. there were no instructions....which didnt matter to much cause its pretty idiot proof...Except..I watched a video on Youtube and there were some differances. The kit i recieved doesnt have a positive and negitive wire to connect to go to the battery like the one on the video and there was also no relay with my kit. Just ballist, and the HID lights themselves.. with the connecting wires of course.

Here is the video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvhDGMUV4pg

And this what i received

Now, One more question... how exactly does the bulb and clear housing mount in the headlight housing? it looks so bulbous... do i take the plastic housing off the HID light before i install in the headlight housing? and what about the grommet that is installed on the wires behind the bulb? it cant be used because there is a plug that has to be plugged into the original headlight harness. So itll be in the way of the grommet. Make sense?

You received what you ordered. You probably didn't order the seperate relay harness and honestly, you don't need it.

On your era Bonneville what you'll do is:
Remove the headlight off the car and take out the old headlight bulb
Unscrew the HID plastic housing that protects the bulb and w/o touching the bulb put it into the headlight housing. (I broke the back piece off)
Connect the car headlight connector to the HID connector for it.
Connect the HID bulb to the ballast and turn the lights on. If your bulb lights, great. If not, swap the two pins in the HID side of the car'* headlight connector and it'll work. Sometimes they come wired backwards. The HID is similar to an LED, in that it only works when polarity is correct.
Mount the ballast and put the headlight back in place. All set.

I have to take the headlights off of my '97 to change bulbs. It'* not that hard. Two bolts on the inside, then push outward.

I was lucky that I managed to hook up my HID (fogs) correctly first-time. The black wires should be grounds; the other ones are the hot ones.

Just make sure you secure your ballasts. You don"t want those flapping around under your hood at 80 miles an hour. I crammed one in between the battery and fender wall (had to remove the battery), and the other between the airbox post and PCM.

Yea i had to pull mine out. There is two bolts holding each headlight in. With big plastic ***** molded onto em... But since this is the first time they have been touched they wer seized up so i had to break the plastic ***** off to get a good bite with pliers.. THEN the welded in threaded in bolt on one of em broke to it all spun. SOO i had to round the plastic off to fit it up and over the bolt. so now that one headlight is a lil loose and doesnt aim the same as the other.

Is there a write up somewhere on how to aim ur headlights so they r uniform and match?

Installed em today. They were easy except the issue mentioned above.
Here is the difference between regular bulb and HID conversion.

we here at GMForum have had many discussions on if HID'* run hotter than regular bulbs or not. All i can say is after about 15-20 of the HID'* being on the housing are Hot to the touch! I little worried.. But the question is, Is that as hot as they will get or will they continue to get hotter the longer they r on? I am a little disappointed because i wanted to install 55w HID'* in my foglight housings but i dont see how that is possible with how hot 35watters got a large headlight housing

I am still a little worried about em being to bright. I know even with the 35w kit u are supposed to tape off the reflector and paint it flat black..

if it were me i would get the harness (and i did)

about the aiming:
park your car on a level surface about 10 to 20 feet away from a wall that has no obstructions (a piece of particle board or something similar will also work, thats what i used)
turn your lights on and open the hood, there is an inverted torx bolt sticking out of the top of the headlight, turn it and you will see the light either go up or down, turning it the opposite way does the opposite (obviously).
now just adjust them accordingly to your preferences and youre done.

oh yeah and one thing i forgot that im sure is pretty obvious, watch the light output on the wall while adjusting, not the actual bulb in the headlight.
