Functional? How are you going to make it work, and what'* it going to feed? Hood SCOOPS feed carbs. You're fuel-injected.

The only functional application so far are the hood vents I put on mine and driverjohn'* SSEi'*.

Scoops are worthless, and there isn't a way to make it 'functional'.

Yes, as far as performance, or "horsepower" goes, it wouldn't be very functional. If you're thinking ram air, it wouldn't benefit unless you plan on driving on the autobahn. I can see using it for cooling of the engine, but that would probably benefit a supercharged engine more IMO.

It doesn't sound like you've done this kind of work before (fabricating). There is a member here who made a large hood scoop on his 2000+. He used fiberglass.

As far as making something, anything is possible.

High as that hoop scoop is I would think it obstructs the view out the front window

They make stick-on varieties I think.

Yes, they have scoops that apply with double-sided tape. The ones I know of don't flow as well with the lines on the 87-91 hoods though.

However, if you don't mind the look of stick-ons, you could go that route, and if you felt the need to cool the engine, you could always cut the fronts of them open, and cut holes in the hood underneath them. That way they'd be "functional" (at cooling). It would be easier than fabricating something, but it wouldn't look as good.

Yeah i know im FI but if i could have some kind of.....tunnel? type of thing on the underside of the hood to direct it to my cold air intake. idk. it might act as some kind of ram air or at least just to force some cooler air over the engine.
