Blazer Foglight Install *Installed 1/20/07 p2*
Following the recent trend on BC, I'm installing some Blazer projector fogs onto the car. I'm using the stock support to mount them.
Here'* the bracket that comes with the Blazer (that black nail is from a former encounter with a hammer this fall building a house)
I cut it, pounded it flat, and drilled holes for the stock foglight bolts. I may have gotten away with leaving it how it was, but I think the bolts needed more space.
Here'* the bracket ready to accept the fog light.
How do you keep the fog from pivoting on the vertical axis? I haven't tried the lock washers yet, but there'* no nuts for the other side. Will the lock washers do the job?
I'm still gonna make something to fill the hole out more too.
Edit - nevermind...I found my missing bracket in my toolbox and tried the lockwashers. They hold it tight!

lock washer are more than enough.
I use the one bolt for mounting that came with the blazer and nut on the top so that I would pivot them and adjust their "strightness" But 2 holes to the stock location works too.

I just got them on the car and roughly aimed because I was way too anxious to see the output
WOW! Talk about light WHERE you need it! They completely blow away the stock fogs plus the projector cutoff is NIIICE
I'm gonna get something to eat but they'll come off after dinner to start working on a fill for the opening to make them look more OEM. It'* gonna involve plexiglass the size of the stock fog that will surrounding the Blazer and I'll paint it all silver with PLENTY of clearcoat on top.

I was surprised how much there is already. I can't imagine how it'll look when I do that. Bend the shields toward the bulb right? I don't currently have a way to light the bulbs off of the car so about how far do you bend them? Also, I saw the tabs to take the projector apart but everything seems DAMN tight. What'* the best way to get it apart without breaking it? I thought I saw a post on hidplanet but I can't seem to find it.

take the largest flat head screwdriver thats fits in there. lay it flat on the shield, and with strong fiim but careful presure push down. This will move the shield a litte bit. IF you move it too far just push it back.
You shouldn't need to take them appart

Ok, I think I got what you're saying. Stick a long-a$$ screwdriver through the opening that bulb goes into and then push the shield. Now when you say "down", do you mean AWAY from the bowl/bulb, or "down" as in how it would sit while installed on the car?

put the screw driver in the more open side. I guess that would be the top half if you looked at them as if mounted on the car.
be sure not to stick it in too far and scratch the glass.

I got them color modded. I had to go down to the garage to use the car to light them since I've got no other power source for them. I'm happy! I know they're where they should be because I went too far on one and all the blue color moved too far away from the cutoff. Right now the blue/purple is JUST above the cutoff and it looks pretty good.

Ok, here'* a little teaser of what I was talking about:
This will sit directly behind the bumper cutout (< 1/4" )- driver'* side. I had to notch the lower right so it could sit closer into the curve of the outer bumper. I then traced the bumper cutout (shown in pen). Luckily the Blazer sits almost perfectly in the center of the hole so it was easy to center it. This is pre-JB weld and paint, but you get the idea. I sanded off the letters/numbers on the face of the Blazer'* bezel too.
I'm not sure how it'* gonna look yet, but I hope it'* better than the gaping hole that was there before.
Edit - Here'* one more for you - and where I'm leaving it for the night. JB Weld on 2 sides and smoothed over on the face.
