Default Windshield trim reinstallation

I got a Sirius satellite radio setup for the Bonnie. Earlier tonight I "permanently" installed the antenna wire. Doing so required that pop out the trim around the windshield so I could lay the wire in the channel. Unfortunately, the trim won't reseat as nicely as it originally was. I put some weatherstripping adhesive in the channel and pushed it down as hard as I could and it still kept springing back up. So, I put in a little more adhesive and used duct tape to hold it down. When it dries I'll remove it. But, I don't think this is the permenant answer. I think the wind will catch it rip it back off.

So....what'* the correct way to fix this??

if you mean the molding that goes along the top of the winsheild...

the right ways would have been, remove windsheild, put NEW molding on the top edge, reinstall windsheild.

sucks, i know :?

New molding? That doesn't sound right. :?

When you get a windshield replaced they reuse the old molding.

I was thinking more about this, and what I'll likely end up doing is cutting away the old adhesive behind the trim, then reseat the trim. This will ensure a good fit, but I have to be careful to not cut the sealant under the windshield because that'* the adhesive that keeps the water from leaking into the car!

Peter has got it right.

For a fix I cut off some of the trim peice and glued it in, Othewise you'll never get it right. I tried every kind of silicone and glue I could think of. The trim peice is L shaped and goes behind the windsheild.

You really need NEW molding? That seems ridiculous!! They reused my old molding when I got the windshield replaced last summer.

I can see needing to have it slip under the windshield, however.

My molding looks fine.

So, to recap, I need to have the windshield uninstalled, then reinstalled with the trim properly in place?

Crap. UGH

Why do I get myself into these predicaments????

Before I actually call the guy, I'll see if I can work something else out. This makes me mad at myself.

You could just cut off the L part and glue it down... Get new trim next time the window comes out....
