Seems somewhat extreme.
Using sandpaper on your headlights just because they started getting dull.
Too many alternative sollutions available for that problem, that are quicker and safer.

That'* not extreme, that'* how it gets done right the first time. I need to do my headlights this spring unless I decide to just buy new.

On the contrary. If you buy a headlight restore kit guess what you find it in? Sand paper.

To the OP, make sure you spray a clear protective coat on your headlights or all your work will be for nothing.

I just had my headlight polish. May I ask what do you guys use to prevent your headlight getting dull and yellow again?

The final process as Roy described in post 5 is spraying a protective clear coat.
This will help in lens discoloration.
