Default Paintin valve covers

any tips on what type of prep and paint work to do to paint my valv covers red?...Ive got a parts washer and all the parts cleaner I can use at my disposal for cleanup, im thinking maby sand it a bit to get a rough surface for the paint to stick to then get some good engine primer and paint. Sound good?

i would say that the paint needs to be hear resistant to a certain point, the valve covers do get hot

I used some left over caliper paint on mine but a regular heat resistant paint would do.
Clean the valve covers and use a good solvent, rough sand the area you want to paint.
Use a very fine mist to start and let dry before adding more coats.

OK painted them today will try and get pics up soon. I used our parts washer at work to get off most of the yucky stuff then cleaned off the rest with shop rags and a brush. Then after letting it dry hit it with some steel wool to rough up the surface. Then I used a sandable primer to get things started about 3 coats of it followed by 4-5 coats of bright red high temp paint and 3 coats of high temp clear. Looks NICE and shiny, ive never seen a SER1 with painted valve covers before, I cant wait to get the rear rockers in and put them on along with you know the supercharger the fuel rails the TB the alternator and all the other crap. I should have this Bonne back together within a month. Watch out Midwest Bonne-fest BonEvils comin to town!!!

You're not the first to paint them

Jeffrey10x2 did it already. See if you can find the post and pics under 'former member'.
