Default Door panel cancer

Did I ever tell anyone I hate bodywork? I do! I finally got sick and tired looking at my passenger side front door giving way to cancer. I told my lower back that this is gonna have to be done today or else!

First three pics are of the lower panel. Apparently, the previous owner told me that other previous owner(I'm the 3rd) had that door skin replaced. Guess they didn't do a good job because all this started to happen...

So, I threw it up on ramps and opened up a can o'whoop arse using my grinder to remove all the rust and paint down to bare metal.

Once that was all done, I masked it off and put on the first primer coat...

First coat of black on...

These are after the 3rd coat...

Now I am waiting the required 45 minute dry time before I can slap the clear coat on. Boy, I hope this goes better than my last paint project.

Nice work man! Did you use a primer that inhibits the growth of rust?

Too bad you don't live closer to me. I would of loved to help with this.

Clear it and then wait a day or two then wet sand it. Nothing less than 1500 and finish with 2000. Then use some rubbing compound on it (I always use Megiurs Ultimate rubbing compound, doesn't leave scratches like other products). Trust me that will make it look pretty.

Nathan, yup, that was my plan, wait a couple days and wet sand 1500-2000. Considering the angle I had viewing the panel, it made it difficult putting the CC on, which lead to a couple runs. But, I think I can gently erase them with some 800 or 1000 on my finger tip.

Thanks Mike!!

Good eye Dakota. I had to put a little more paint into the area where I sanded down. The upper area of the panel I only put 2 coats on. But that darn CC is a pain unless I'm using my own gun.
