Making the Engine look purty!
Hi all!
Got a nice new Bonney (used/new) and the engine looks factory. Looking at the pictures in the forum, I see the other engines look beautiful as well.
How can I clean mine when it looks bad. My wife'* Montana (we are a Pontiac family) is in serious need of an "Under the hood" job.
I have some GUNK engine degreaser, but it has all kinds of warnings on the intake and plug wires and i am smart enough to know anything that will degrease will compromise rubber insulation and plastic.
So...what can I do to clean the Montana AND KEPP the Bonny engine looking pristine.
Thanks!
The Villiage Idiot.

Simple Green, I used a full gallon to clean my engine, I doubt it had been cleaned since new, Just do a little touch up and I can at least call it clean.

Kirkland industrial degreaser, if you have a Costco. Looks like antifreeze. Most of the time I use 2 cans of Gunk Foam Engine-brite. Just follow the directions. I only remove my cone filter and SC cover, and don't cover anything.

Thanks guys.
Damemorder: That simple green...how do you apply it? Do you scrub anything? What do you cover.
Willwren: SC cover - I assume that means Super Charger cover? I do not see a cover on my Super Charger. Also, does what you cover for the Industrial Degreaser also match the Engine Brite foam?
Thanks guys.

Do you have the large black or gray engine cover that says "3800 Series II Supercharged"?
If so, take that off. It'* probably nasty underneath. I personally don't cover anything. You may want to bag your ignition coils, and clean them later with a damp rag, but I don't.
Any cleaner, same routine.

Wow, i just did mine this afternoon. I used some GUNK engine cleaner, and it worked pretty good. I probably coulda let it sit longer, but it'* fine. If i want more to come off, it'll have to be with our pressure washer.
I used to do the brushes, and rag method, took forever, tried some armor all wipes, but they don't work so well in places like the intake manifold crevaces, so i bought some GUNK for $2, and hosed that down. Worked great, rinsed it off, and armor all wiped it up.
She'* a beaut now, and i've got some stellar pix. Like the one i took of yours pete.

Okay, so if I plastic the plug wires and intake, i can pretty much hose it down, use any of a number of quality cleaners to soak it, scrub and wipe rough spots, and hose it down again with no damage to sensitive parts.
Do I have that right?
Many thanks gang.
