I had the same problem with a white car. 1337ssei and I tried washing his green 97 SSEi, and the best result we could get was from and orbital buffer (AC power) that we picked up from Advance Auto Parts for $19.98! That was a great deal. The weirdest thing about this is that it worked really well on the entire car except for the spoiler. There, it left a white coat. We went to a really soft towel. See if you can do the above suggestion'* soap and water, then water, and a soft beach towel. Try some other polish. 1337ssei and I used Liquid Glass polish, the stuff that costs about $20/can, but it'* just so awesome.
