Default SSEi painted under the hood

I am thinking of adding the "SSEi' on the hood liner and I'd like to know if you guys stenciled and painted, or used vynal letters. I assume it has to be removed if painted, do the plastic retainer / buttons have to be replaced (one time use). Also willren mentioned in an earlier post about recovering the hood liner? Mine has surface tears but is in good shape otherwise. Any ideas?

A lot (maybe most) of SSE'* and SSEi'* have that on the liner. But if you want to do yours I'd recommend making a stencil and painting it with high-temp paint. The plastic retainer tabs are reusable too, as long as you don't break them

Have any pics of yours. If it only has a couple tears it should be fine. I don't remember exactly what it was that Will used to resurface his.

Go to the fabric store and buy a piece of black craft felt. Get some spray adhesive. I used 3M 77. Spray the existing liner (after carefully beating the dust off it and making sure it'* dry) and the back of the felt. Follow the waiting time on the can. Then put the two together, and trim with a razor blade, and poke something through the holes. Work it press it, work it, press it as it dries to make it follow the contours. Then stencil and spray paint. I used Avery label paper, in full sheets. Print your pattern, cut it out, and stick it on for stencils. Press hard to make it stick so the paint doesn't wick under it.

The retainers are re-usable a couple times. Just be careful pulling them off. If any break, the dealer can get them for cheap, or I can give you the part number.

Considering the extremely limited production numbers of the SSEi each year, it'* not cost-effective to customize the front bumper cover and hood insulator. I found it surprising that both said SSE, but after a little thought, it makes sense.
