Default Dirty wheels

Ok so I havent been able to wash my car this past winter as I would have liked. So when I got a chance to do a spray down I noticed that my wheels wont come clean, they have a like brownish rust colored tint on them and it wont come off even with scrubbing. I did a search and saw someone recommended hot wheels by Maguires. I got that but even that didnt help! any suggestions? I'll try to take some pics later of what I'm talking about.

What I did when I had the brushed metal surface was use an SOS pad and soak it in water real well then GENTLY scrub the wheel just enough to get the grime off. Clean it up real well and get a good wax job on them. Don't do this if your wheels are chrome. It may show scuff marks.

Try Magic Eraser made for rims and tires, I used one yesterday and it really cleaned them up!

DO NOT USE SOS PAD! Please don't. Treat your wheels just as you would your paint. The clay bar should fix it for you. No guarantees on the TW liquid clay though as I hear it is pretty mild compared to real clay. Clay then use a very durable wax or sealant on the wheels to prevent this for the future.

X2 on the clay bar. I also recommend P21S gel wheel cleaner (found online only). My wife'* SUV has some small round openings that I can't get into (and gave up on brushes that are wrecked after using them twice) completely so they have some badly caked brake dust in spots and this stuff ate away at most of it just letting it sit for 15 minutes.
