Yeah, I had some trouble fitting the new metal to the contours of the floor a month ago, that was pretty tough to get it flush. But you're right, I think it is doable!

all it needs to be is down enough to fit the hole for the cable, you could make a triangle shape with a vise and a hammer and weld the hole side on. that would be easier than trying to recreate the curve

Yeah by no means will it look like the original, it'll be pretty rough-looking. But functional
