I will blame Willwren for this one.

He uses his kitchen dishwasher to wash engine parts.

I know, because I was there when he did it. After it was done the dishwasher look like it was never used to wash greasy engine parts.

So, when my wife was out.......

I thought she will never know. :P

Paul, it has less to do with the machine, and more to do with the chemical degreaser you use.

I use my 'parts washer' for FINAL cleaning. I always do a pre-clean outside first. Then I wash with Castrol SuperClean in the washer. My dishwasher is probably cleaner than 90% of them on this Forum.

Dont' buy a new dishwasher... try a product called Glisten. It'* supposed to clean all kinds of stuff out of your dishwasher.... it'* worth a try.

Otherwise use CSC like I mentioned. It'* basically the same base as oven cleaner.

I used engine degreaser foam and Simple Green.

Took me all evening to rub the inside down with varsol.........now you should smell it.

Managed to talk my way out of a divorce.

I've washed inside trim bits in my washer before with normal washer soap but nothing greasy.

So with CSC, do you just clean the parts the best you can, stick them in the washer, then dump some CSC in the soap reservoir in the washer? I'd be afraid the CSC would damage the paint or little rubber parts in the washer but does it not have contact long enough to do any damage? What about smell? I'm very interested in this as I need a way to clean a batch of parts pretty bad...
