Replacement Pinstripping...
Hi All, new guy here.
I inheirited a 1990 Bonneville LE when my aunt passed away back in January. Not a bad car, though a change in pace from the F-bodies I'm used to. The car had only 24,000 miles on it and most of the work I've been doing to it has been general maintenenace stuff. (plugs, plug wires, belts, filters, oil, etc.) Only thing major has been converting the A/C system from R-12 to R134a due to compressor failure. Car was from southwestern PA, where A/C isn't used much..probably never used at all in the car till it came to me in Florida.
There'* one nagging problem that I'd like to fix. The damn pinstripe down the passenger side front fender is applied wrong. Years ago, before she decided that it was time to stop driving, my Aunt used the Bonneville as a battering ram to knock a concrete block out of her garage wall. Dealer in Pennsylvania replaced the fender, headlights, and bumper. However, the pinstripe was applied wrong...it doesn't arc like the driver side fender, but is perfectly straight.
Is the pinstripping still available? GM dealer couldn't find a part number for it.
Plan B is to completely remove all the pinstripping from the car without damaging the paint.
Suggestions?

I like to use the 3M brand at Auto Zone. You should be able to match up the color.
You will need a heat gun to get the older one off being careful not to overheat the paint.

Re: stripe
Thanks,
The more I learned abouth the subject, the more I came to realize that the pinstripes were applied at the dealership when the car was originally sold (except for the redone fender) , not at the factory.
Instead of trying to get the stripes reapplied, I opted to remove them from the entire car, along with the dealer'* decal and the door guards. I kinda like the cleaner look the car has without all that stuff on it. Came off pretty clean, just some adheisive left on the paint that came off with acetone.

As was already said, pinstriping is available at most autoparts stores and is pretty cheap as well. Matching a color can be difficult at times, but I find it easier to just pull both sides off and start from scratch. I usually don't like the color thats on it anyways.
Also, I hope you enjoy the car. Sounds like it would be a very nice DD.
